CLIL Teachers: Learning English Through School Subjects

The CLIL method – Content and Language Integrated Learning – is one of the most effective approaches for learning a foreign language. English is not studied in an abstract way, but used as a tool to explore the world: science, art, history, and geography become the context where words, structures, and meaning come to life.

At B School, we’ve been integrating the CLIL methodology into our courses for children and teenagers for years, thanks to the work of trained teachers who guide learning in a natural and engaging way.

What it Means to Teach Using the CLIL Method

With CLIL, English is no longer just a subject, but a tool for learning something else: building, drawing, experimenting, storytelling. Children learn new vocabulary, improve comprehension, and practice using the language in a functional and authentic way.

Teaching with the CLIL method doesn’t mean translating a lesson from Italian to English. It means designing interdisciplinary activities where language and content grow together, supporting the development of critical thinking, independence, and student motivation.

Our Trained Teachers

All teachers involved in our CLIL programmes have specific training and often combine linguistic qualifications (e.g. CELTA or DELTA) with degrees and experience in educational and subject-specific fields.

In practice, this means:

  • Adapting school subjects to different language levels
  • Using authentic (non-simplified) English materials that spark curiosity
  • Working with both linguistic and cognitive objectives

Our CLIL projects take place primarily in local primary and secondary schools, as well as during afternoon workshops at our school.

CLIL Training for Teachers

We don’t just use the CLIL method — we teach it too!

B School offers specific training programmes for teachers who want to integrate CLIL into their own classrooms, in both primary and secondary schools.

Courses are led by expert trainers with years of experience in designing interdisciplinary activities in English. We cover both theoretical aspects (curricular frameworks, lesson planning) and practical skills: how to build a unit, manage the classroom, select materials, and assess learning.

We work with public and private schools, training institutions, and individual teachers, offering flexible programmes both in-person and online.

CLIL in Our Summer Camp

We also include CLIL activities in our summer camp “Move Your Summer”, where English is the language used to play, explore art, nature, and movement inside Parco Ducale. It’s a complete educational experience that blends play, discovery, and real learning.

Why Choose a CLIL Project?

Choosing a CLIL project means offering children a rich, European-recognised experience that develops cross-curricular language skills. It’s a strategic choice for anyone who wants English to truly become part of daily life, both at school and in the future.
