Interpreting

The BBโ€™s Way provides interpreting services in major European and international languages for events and conferences in Parma, Milan, Verona, and Bologna.

Our Services:

  • Liaison Interpreting
  • Consecutive Interpreting
  • Simultaneous Interpreting

What are the main tasks of a liaison interpreter?

Liaison interpreters are typically involved in events such as trade fairs, business meetings, company and factory visits, technical training sessions, and meetings with foreign delegations.
These are relatively informal events, where the interpreter’s role is to translate as needed, facilitating dialogue between the parties.

Our interpreters have experience working at major trade fairs in the area, such as CIBUS in Parma.

What does a consecutive interpreter do?

Consecutive interpreters work during events such as seminars and conferences where a large audience needs to understand a language different from that of the speaker, requiring immediate translation. The consecutive interpreter uses a special note-taking technique, translating and delivering every 5 to 10 minutes.

How does a simultaneous interpreter work?

Simultaneous interpreters usually work in a booth and require specific equipment to perform their duties effectively, as they receive the speech to be translated via audio and provide immediate translation to the audience through a microphone in headsets. In this case, the translation is perceived “simultaneously,” even though there is a slight delay of a few seconds that allows the interpreter to memorize, mentally translate, and reproduce the sentences.

Due to the memory effort required for simultaneous interpreting, these interpreters typically work in pairs and alternate every 20 to 25 minutes to ensure consistent quality of translation.

Simultaneous interpreters often work in institutions such as the European Union or the United Nations, but they can also be involved in less formal events, such as specialized conferences at cultural institutes, universities, and museums, or in local government or public administration institutions.
As can be seen, when discussing interpreting and the services of hostesses and stewards for events, we are referring to two completely different services.

If you are looking for hostesses and stewards for your event, The BBโ€™s Way also offers this type of service, with more information available here.
